Description
Monte Solaio’s Allegro is a yellow, straw-colored Wine, with fragrance notes of peach, jasmine and fennel. Soft and round in the mouth, the taste is full and exhibits a nice minerality. The harvest is strictly manual. Once transferred to the cellar, the grapes are de-stemmed and kept for 48 hours at 5° C in a stainless steel tank, then gently pressed. This process yields “must” (juice, skins, stems), which is then poured into stainless steel tanks where the alcoholic fermentation takes place at a temperature of 15° C. In April the wine is ready for bottling.
Monte Solaio Winery
Monte Solaio is a stellar property in the Suvereto region. The estate sits on 178 hectares in the Campiglia Marittima, the end of a mountainous spur that culminates in steep slopes facing the ocean just a few miles away across the Val di Cornia. The south- and west-facing slopes catch the sun’s heat, but the breezes off the ocean make the climate ideal for complex, expressive wines.
The soil here is the real treasure, with a heart of minerals and limestone providing an ideal environment for Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Vermentino, Viogner and Ansonica.
