This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon has all the notes you expect from a serious cab, but with the added dimension that makes Italian expressions of the grape so special. Beyond the gorgeous ripeness, this wine is a little wilder, a little more complex, a little more ancient tasting. Open this a few hours before dinner and serve it with red meat like steak or osso buco, or pasta with rich meat or mushroom sauces.

Peteglia Winery
Peteglia is an estate that’s dear to us. It’s run by two brothers, Alessandro and Marco. They grew up here, on their family farm, and then left home to study and work, acquiring a number of skills. After a decade or so, they returned to the farm, established an agriturismo, and set about turning the family vineyards into a world-class operation. Alessandro works the vineyards, and Marco takes care of the cellar. Between the two of them, they give these wines careful attention at every stage. You can taste their skill and care in every sip.
Montecucco might be the best-kept secret in Tuscany. The appellation is situated just south of Montalcino, between that famous town and Scansano, which you know from the Morellino di Scansano that we import. It’s an area that gets plenty of heat, but which still receives the moderating influence of sea breezes. Grapes grown here ripen beautifully, achieving much of the complexity that Brunello di Montalcino is famous for.
