The Farm (La Fattoria)

Dancing Ewe Farm operates an intensive grazing program with only rich pastures and a well-thought-out infrastructure. The farm is managed by several key players, Jody Somers, Luisa Scivola-Somers, Robert Bailey.

Jody is responsible for the general flock health, pasture management, and the cheese making. Luisa manages the aging facility, aligns cheese orders, and assists with lambing and neonatal care. She also handles all of the bookkeeping, marketing, website maintenance. Upon everything else, she also plans all the menus and does the cooking for the Farm dinners and lunches. Luisa also has started an “all hands on” cooking class series that starts in May and goes through October. Robert is also a vital asset to Dancing Ewe Farm. Carol oversees the farm when Jody and Luisa are working the market tents. She’s also in charge of milking, arguably the most important and rigorous job on the farm and is referred to, by everybody, as “the right-hand man”.

They also have two British farm hands, or should we say paws: Twist and William. Twist has an accomplished resume, which includes the working sheepdog role in the HBO movie, “A Dog Year,” finishing in the top ten in several sheepdog competitions, and performing working sheepdog demonstrations in downtown Manhattan. William, on the other hand, is always ready to work! William never obtained the vast experience of Twist but is extremely courageous and never backs down against grumpy rams or feisty ewes. The security department is handled by two Maremma sheepdogs, Faith and Sartucci.

Together, they operate Dancing Ewe Farm to provide products of the highest quality. They all pay special attention to detail, striving for perfection in all our events and products.
